Good morning, everyone! This is the last advent Sunday for the season and the message is Joy. We are full of joy because the Savior was born in Bethlehem for the express purpose to save His people. This Christmas may we all remember our first love, when we came to know our King. May we continue in that joy that permeates our hearts and let His light shine in and through us. I get so tired of the worldly views of this season and grapple with feeling down at times. To get out of that oppressive atmosphere I have to go to the Word and review the real message of Christmas in Scripture, then my attitude of gratitude rises up.
The Scripture I chose for this photograph of the sun shining through clouds tells it all – there is hint of a cross in that sunshine. Jesus Christ, our Lord, gave us life everlasting through His birth, life, death, burial and resurrection – He alone is our hope and joy. I am grateful that I am one of ‘His people’. I pray you all have a peaceful and blessed Christmas!

This is the third advent Sunday which signifies ‘The Message’. As we look forward to the celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we read in Luke 2 how the angels announced to the shepherds the good tidings and great joy for all people. The shepherds were afraid because of the presence of the angel with the glory of the Lord shining around them. But they heard the message of a very important event that was about to take place. This wondrous event so long ago changed my life and yours.
I think being afraid at the sight of the angel would be a normal reaction. I thought about some of my own fears in this age of societal turmoil, and God reminds me that He is in control. I paired this Scripture from Deuteronomy 31:8 with this deer photograph. We have a few bucks coming around the back of our property in the mornings and they are always on high alert as this one was when he heard some kind of sound. They are afraid of people (and the dogs in our neighborhood) and will bolt when threatened. Moses told the people of Israel, as they were about to cross the Jordan into the promised land, to not fear and then he told Joshua (who was to lead them over) the same truth in this passage. Fear is stifling – the Lord promised us in many verses of His word that He will never leave us or forsake us. My desire is to not let fear enter into any of my circumstances; to not give an inch to the enemy and to recall all the Lord’s promises of His faithfulness and lovingkindness. I pray you all have a blessed week! I am pretty sure this month we all will hear and read the Christmas story (and the part that Joseph had in 'preparing' to 'put Mary away' but he obeyed God when in a dream he was told about the precious Babe in her womb). As I see God’s creation all around, I want to prepare my heart each day to always praise the Lord - and thank Him for His perfect plan from the foundation of time. I want to seek Him with my whole heart and not let this world’s chaos affect my spirit, which the craziness does sometimes and that is why I have to stay in His word for my comfort and peace.
Hope you all have a blessed week ahead! |
