This is another snow scene for this week’s Photo-Scripture Blog! The day after the snow I saw this sweet young deer walking around looking for morsels of grass under the snow and a dove flew down looking for something too. When the deer saw the dove, it curiously walked over to it. I thought it was a sweet sight, as she did not harm the bird and the dove ended up flying off before it got too close for comfort. I decided to pair this bible Scripture from Romans with this image, especially since it is about love and tomorrow is Valentine’s Day.
The commandments of God are well-defined in how we are to live our lives. This passage speaks to me of the supreme manner for fulfilling the law of the Lord in relationships. God is love and when we love our neighbor, we demonstrate His love for us. Neighbor, here in the Greek, means near-fellow, close by countryman or friend - while Love is Agape which means affectionate, charity, dear, benevolence. In treating others with consistent consideration and care, we do not defy God’s laws concerning social relationships. It’s hard to do sometimes, but knowing that this directive is a commandment (Love your neighbor as yourself) I would do well to practice it. Love is an action and I hope to recall this verse when dealing with anyone who I come across in this life’s journey. Have a blessed week, my friends!
